Tiramisú

Tiramisú is the perfect dessert for every celebration. So, why not making it romantic for St. Valentine’s Day?  Don’t be afraid, it is not too late! With my recipe you will not need more than 20-30 minutes to be able to delight your loved ones.

Tiramisú

Ingredients for 8:
400 gr of Savoiardi biscuits
500 gr of Mascarpone cheese
4 big eggs
350 ml of espresso coffee (1 mug)
100 gr of white sugar (+ 2 tbsp for the coffee)
a drop of your favourite liquor (optional)
50 gr of cocoa powder

How to prepare:
In a bowl beat the egg yolks with the sugar until they are creamy and light yellow. Add the mascarpone and mix. In another bowl beat the egg whites until stiff. Then add the whites to the mascarpone and eggs cream and mix gently.

Pour the coffee in a bowl, add the sugar, 100 ml of water, a drop of liquor (my favourite is Amaretto di Saronno, but you can use any sweet liquor) and mix.

You can prepare Tiramisú on a big serving tray, in a large dish or in individual portions (as in the picture) the method is always the same. First put one layer of cream. Then quickly dip the biscuits one by one in the coffee (you have to be quick because if not the biscuits will absorb too much coffee) and create a layer of biscuits. Then another layer of cream and another of biscuits… Go on until you finish the cream. The last layer has to be a layer of cream.

Finally, with a small strainer sprinkle the Tiramisú with the cocoa powder.

Your Tiramisú is ready! Put it in the fridge for at least 30 mins (you can also prepare it one day in advance, it will be even more tasty) and enjoy with your loved ones.

  1. Very tasty!I tried this recipe today and the result was un-be-lie-va-ble! Just replaced the cocoa powder with grated chocolate, because some friends/relatives don't like cocoa. This is also a good option. Thanks, Erica!

    1. Thank you Fede! I'm really happy that you enjoyed my recipe! I like the idea of using grated chocolate. I'll try for sure! Maybe with white chocolate to make a snow-white tiramisu :-)

    2. Great Erica,

this is the traditional and unique real tiramisù! Today a lot of people, in Italy too, change the basic ingredients forgetting what is a tiramisù! But yours is the best ;D
at the end, I confirm, with chocolate is always wonderful!

    3. Thank you :-)
I agree. I tried so many different tiramisu' (strawberry, whipped cream, without coffee, with different kinds of biscuits, etc.), but the traditional is always the best!
